Treatment of periodontal disease
Periodontitis is a chronic inflammation of the tissues surrounding the tooth that leads to bone loss and — if untreated — to loose and lost teeth. Recognised early, it can be effectively stopped.

Symptoms that must not be ignored
- Bleeding gums when brushing or eating
- Redness, swelling and tenderness of the gums
- Persistent bad breath despite good hygiene
- Exposed tooth necks and sensitivity
- Loose teeth or a change in their position
- The feeling that teeth are "getting longer"
Periodontal disease develops over years and does not hurt for a long time. This is the main reason patients report only at an advanced stage.
Diagnosis
Treatment starts with a full periodontal assessment: measuring pocket depth around every tooth, evaluating bleeding and mobility and analysing radiographs. This picture determines the stage of the disease and allows treatment to be planned accordingly.
Stages of treatment
- 1
Hygiene phase
Removal of deposits and hygiene instruction. Without effective home care no further treatment will last.
- 2
Non-surgical treatment
Cleaning the root surfaces within the gum pockets to resolve the inflammation.
- 3
Re-evaluation
Pockets are measured again once the tissues have healed. Only then is it clear which sites require surgery.
- 4
Surgical and regenerative treatment
In selected cases — cleaning procedures under direct vision and regenerative techniques that rebuild lost tissue.
- 5
Maintenance visits
Regular periodontal check-ups. They determine the long-term result of the treatment.
Periodontal disease and implants
Placing implants in a patient with untreated periodontal disease carries a high risk of failure. That is why we always bring the periodontium to health before implant treatment — and where teeth cannot be saved, we plan a full arch reconstruction in advance.
Why a periodontology specialist
Tomasz Kaczyński, DDS, PhD is a specialist in periodontology and an implant surgeon — combining the treatment of periodontal disease with implant surgery. As a result the treatment plan covers both saving your own teeth and a prosthetic solution planned ahead for those that cannot be saved.
Book a consultation
During the consultation we assess the condition of your bone and gums, take a CT scan and present an individual treatment plan together with a cost estimate.
